Reform to the Vacation Law in Mexico

In 2023, Mexico reformed the Federal Labor Law (LFT) to increase the minimum number of vacation days. From then on, workers with one year of service are entitled to 12 vacation days (previously only 6). The updated 2026 table is as follows:

• 1 year of seniority: 12 days of vacation
• 2 years: 14 days
• 3 years: 16 days
• 4 years: 18 days
• 5 years: 20 days
• From the 6th year onwards: 2 additional days for every 5 years of service

What is the Vacation Bonus?

The vacation bonus is an additional 25% of the salary corresponding to the vacation days. It is calculated as follows:

Vacation Bonus = Daily Wage × Vacation Days × 25%

💡 Example: If you have 2 years of seniority, a daily salary of $400, you are entitled to 14 days of vacation + a bonus of $400 × 14 × 25% = an additional $1,400.
