What is a headcanon?

A headcanon is a detail about a character that a fan believes or imagines, but that isn't confirmed in the official story (the "canon"). For example: "This character secretly writes poetry."

Character, OC and ship headcanons

Solo mode gives character headcanons about habits, fears, hobbies and quirks. Pair mode gives relationship headcanons for two characters: shared rituals, inside jokes and soft moments.

Writers use headcanons to warm up before a fanfic session, to flesh out an OC sheet, or as roleplay prompts.

Headcanon Generator, FAQ

How do I get a character headcanon?
Type your character's name in Character 1 and press Generate. The headcanon is written about that character.
Can it make relationship or ship headcanons?
Yes. Fill in both Character 1 and Character 2 to get relationship headcanons about the pair, great for OTPs, ships and friendships.
Does it work for OCs?
Yes. Use your original character's name; nothing about the generator depends on an existing fandom.
Is the Headcanon Generator really random?
Yes. Where available, Toolssy uses the browser's Web Crypto API, far stronger than a basic Math.random() call, so your headcanons are genuinely unpredictable and unbiased.
Is the Headcanon Generator free, and do you store my results?
It's completely free with no account and no limits, and no, nothing is stored. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your inputs and results are never sent to a server or logged.
